Professor White started his martial arts journey studying Kadaka Ryu Karate earning his Black Belt, he continued his stand up education with the USAKF in which he was promoted to 3rd Degree Black Belt. He then turned his focus to grappling and began his journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, studying under Professor Roger Carroll, who can be considered one of the Pioneers of BJJ in North Carolina. Under Professor Carroll, Scott achieved his 2nd Degree Black Belt, excelling in comprehension and competition. Scott competed in and earned wins in all major competitions across the southeast including NAGA, Newbreed, Bud Cup, GoodFight, Grapplers Quest and more!

Not only did Scott compete and earn wins in nearly every BJJ competition that came through the Carolinas but he also hosted his own tournaments, successfully planning and managing 6 of the extremely popular "Got Ground" events, showing his commitment to the community and growth of the sport.

Ever the over achiever, Professor Scott went on to earn his Shodan (Black Belt 1st Degree) in Judo under Sensei Joseph Wells. Putting his skills to the test he competed often in Judo tournaments, earning several wins and a North Carolina State title, not only in his class but in the open division as well!

Since 2008 Professor Scott White has kept SAGA Combat not only relevant but at the forefront of the grappling game with Gi and No Gi classes and innovative techniques. Through his constant teaching and dedication, he has developed a stable full of loyal BJJ practitioners whose diverse skills are regularly displayed, winning tournaments from Beginner to Expert including wins in organizations such as Fight2WinPro, Pro Jitsu, Carolina Combat League and Fight For It. Scott has also coached and cornered multiple fighters throughout the years.

Through Professor Scott White's dedication to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and willingness to teach anyone with the desire to learn over the past 15 years, he has established a legacy of grappling excellence in an area that knew nothing of it before his presence. Scott White is the Godfather of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Lincoln County, NC and SAGA Combat is proud to have him as our Professor.
